Murder of Elderly Woman in Guwahati: Sister suspects property row, accountant absconding

Fresh inputs have come to the fore from the sensational murder of an elderly woman in Guwahati on February 7.

The sister of the victim, who rushed from Tezpur, suspects the murder was likely committed for her property.

As per the latest reports, Ashray, the accountant of the victim has been absconding.

Reports suggest that Ashray had rung deceased Anu Hazarika around 11 AM on the day of the incident, however, could not reach her through.

Later, the victim’s driver Pranjit and caretaker Jintu allegedly found her dead body inside the house. Both have been detained by the police for interrogation.

Meanwhile, the Assam Police is investigating the murder case of Anu Hazarika in Guwahati on a war footing.

Although the police have unearthed clues, it is yet to apprehend the perpetrators involved in the crime.

It may be mentioned here that the deceased woman Anu Hazarika, who was in her 60s, was found dead with her hands and feet tied at her residence in the Kalapahar area yesterday.

Anu Hazarika is the owner of the Tara Hira Complex.

During the initial probe, it was learnt that the miscreants after killing the victim decamped with valuables including cash. CCTV cameras were also damaged by the assailants.

However, the police have accessed visuals of other CCTV cameras in and around the residential complex.

It is to be noted here that deceased Anu Hazarika had a net worth of over Rs 100 crore.
