The four-year-old child has been rescued from Howrah
Army PRO Lt Colonel Amrinder Singh Walia had dropped the 4-year old daughter of his girlfriend Vandana Shree at Howrah railway station after killing Vandana, police sources said.
Presently the child is in the custody of the Kamrup police.
Army officer, Lt Colonel Amarinder Singh Walia was arrested yesterday from the 4 Corps Army headquarters in Tezpur for killing his girlfriend and dumping the body by the side of National Highway 31 in Changsari in the outskirts of Guwahati. Police found the body on February 15.
Vandhana Sree hailed from Tamil Nadu.
Colonel Walia had confessed to killing Vandhana during police interrogation last night.
According to the police, Vandhana Sree had gone to Varanasi and then came to Guwahati from Delhi on February 14 to meet Lt Colonel Walia.
Lt Colonel Walia is posted as a public relations officer (PRO) at the 4 Corps Army headquarters in Tezpur. Lt Col Walia had an illegal relationship with the deceased woman for a long time.
The vehicle used to dump the body has also been recovered by the Assam police.
