Maibang to get major facelift

Maibang, capital city of ancient Dimasa kingdom now under North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) is all set to get a major facelift.

The NCHAC authority under Chief Executive Member, Debolal Gorlosa has undertaken massive beautification and development works around the Ranachandi Temple, covering about 25 bighas of land.

This would be developed as a park with historical importance where history of Dimasa kingdom would be depicted. This will give a glimpse of the rich historical, cultural entity of Dimasas.

Talking to the media, Debolal Gorlosa, CEM, NCHAC, explained how the park would be a place for historical importance as well as a place for worship, where cleanliness would get priority. He hoped that if all things go well, this park would be inaugurated during first week of January 2023.
For a very long time Maibang, 57 km from Haflong, has been left unattended and ignored.

Maibang is famous for the ‘ Ranachandi temple’ or stone-house chiselled out of a huge stone on the banks of river Mahur. It is also known for many other historical remains which are yet to be explored.
