Lakshman Prasad Acharya Takes Oath As 32nd Governor Of Assam

The new Assam governor was administerred the oath of office by Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court

Lakshman Prasad Acharya was sworn-in as the 32nd Governor of Assam today.

The former Sikkim Governor, who was appointed as the new Assam governor by President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday, was administerred the oath of office by Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

Gulab Chand Kataria, who was the Assam governor, has been made the Governor of Punjab.
Lakshman Prasad Acharya was born on October 3, 1954, and he was a member of Legislative Council from Uttar Pradesh from 2015 to 2023.

The former 17th Governor of Sikkim was also the Vice-President of Uttar Pradesh state unit of the BJP and the President of Uttar Pradesh Kashi Kshetra BJP.

He was appointed BJP’s election convener of Varanasi parliamentary seat for the 2019 General elections.

President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday had announced a series of gubernatorial appointments.

In other appointments, Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan has been appointed as the governor of Maharashtra, while Santosh Kumar Gangwar will be new Jharkhand Governor in place of CP Radhakrishnan.

Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the governor of Rajasthan, Jishnu Dev Varma will be the Telangana governor, Om Prakash Mathur will be the new governor of Sikkim, Assam BJP leader and former MP Ramen Deka has been appointed as the governor of Chhattisgarh and CH Vijayashankar the governor of Meghalaya, the communique said.
