Kaziranga National Park witnesses record footfall of 1.08 lakh visitors between Oct-Jan

According to reports, the park generated an income of Rs 4.58 crore from tourists

Kaziranga National Park registered a record 1.8 lakh tourists visiting the Park popular for the one-horned rhino between October 2023 to January 2024. The Park which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to a variety of flora and fauna, saw an impressive 194 per cent rise in tourist footfalls from 17,662 in Ocotber last year to 52,000 in January this year, official data said.

The month-wise breakdown of tourist footfalls are –
October- 17,662
November- 40,242
December- 65000
January- 52000

According to reports, the park generated an income of Rs 4.58 crore from tourists.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hailed the conducive tourism atmosphere in the state and excellent facilities at the park for this achievement.

Taking to his official X handle, Sarma wrote, “The record footfall of tourists to Kaziranga is a testament to the conducive tourism atmosphere in the State and the excellent facilities at the World Heritage Site. I welcome all visitors to come and explore #AwesomeAssam.”


Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah also lauded the achievement and expressed his steadfast commitment to conserving wildlife and promoting tourism.
“The Kaziranga National Park achieves a significant milestone, welcoming a record-breaking number of tourists exceeding 1.08 lakhs, this season. Under the leadership of Hon’ble CM Dr @himantabiswa, we remain steadfast in our commitment to conserving and enhancing our wildlife, while also promoting it to audiences worldwide,” he wrote in his official X handle.
