14-year-old Ankurith Karmakar from Assam’s Karimganj is winning hearts of one and all for his unique innovation. Ankurith, who is student of class 9, has designed a smart shoe for the visually-impaired people. This smart shoe has been designed in a way that will help people with minimal or no eyesight protect themselves from any obstacles. Once worn, the shoe can notify the user of any possible obstacles on their way and give them sufficient time to maintain a distance.
Speaking to Northeast Live Ankurith’s proud parents shared that their son has always been inclined to gadgets, and that they have always encouraged him to pursue what he likes. As revealed by Ankurith’s father, the smart shoe is not his first creation. The young prodigy had earlier built a battery-powered motorbike all by himself.
Meanwhile, Ankurith is confident that if he is given the necesssary support by the government, he will build an ambulance and fire fighting vehicle that can move in narrow lanes. Young Ankurith envisages to become a scientist in the near future.
