Bharti is among the thousands of Indians stuck in Tel Aviv amid the ongoing conflict
As bodies and rubble pile up, and the war between Israel and Palestine rage on, a nurse hailing from Sonitpur in Assam is among the thousands from India, stuck in Tel Aviv, Israel.
In a video message, Bharti spoke in details about the current situation there. She said, “The place where I am currently staying is peaceful. As per news reports missiles are being fired along the border, but as of now it is peaceful here. I am in Tel Aviv.”
Uncertain about what will happen next, Bharti said people in the conflict zone run for safety whenever the alarm goes off warning about a potential airborne attack.
She stated, “A siren is sounded when missiles are fired from across the border, than we move to bunkers for taking shelter. Today there is no siren, yesterday it was sounded twice.”
Bharti who could not talk for long, informed that there are a lot of people from Assam residing in Tel Aviv. “Almost 18,000 Indians are there in Tel Aviv. There are many people from Assam, but I dont know the exact numbers.”
The death count in Israel has surged above 1,200 from the worst attack in the country’s history, while Gaza officials have reported that 900 people have been killed so far. Israeli army also said it had recovered the bodies of around 1,500 Hamas operatives inside Israel.
Israel declared war on the Gaza Strip after an unprecedented surprise attack by the armed Palestinian terror group Hamas on Saturday.
