In an awful incident, a young girl in Guwahati has alleged to be assaulted by a Rapido driver last night.
As per reports, the girl had booked a Rapido from Jayanagar area of the city to Kumarpara.
However, the driver, identified as Dwipen Gohain, had been asking an exorbitant fare for the ride.
Gohain had also been continuously persuading the girl to go on an offline ride.
When the girl refused to abide by the terms of the driver, the latter hurled abuses and also hit her with the helmet.
Speaking to the media the victim girl said that the driver has asked her to pay extra to drop her home and then took her in the wrong direction. And then persuaded her to take the ride offline.
“I have booked the Rapido from Jayanagar area to Kumarpara. The driver then stopped the scooty in the middle of the road and convinced told me that he was cancelling the ride and going offline. When I refused to take the ride offline, he assaulted me and hit me with the helmet and escaped from the spot,” she added.
Gohain was later arrested by a team of Dispur police.
It may be mentioned that Rapido and Uber drivers asking for extra money to take the ride is now a new trend in Guwahati.
They sometimes say they can not take the ride because the fares displayed by the app are lower than their expectations, and a few ask for extra charges to take the ride.
Many users have also taken to Twitter to express how difficult it is to deal with these issues on a daily basis.
