IPL betting racket busted in Assam’s Cachar, 2 held with Rs 39 lakh

The Assam Police busted an Indian Premier League (IPL) gambling racket in Cachar district and arrested two persons with Rs 39 lakhs cash late last night.

Police have also recovered eight mobile phones, a laptop, three ledgers and a few ATM cards from their possession.

The arrested persons have been identified as–Gautam Roy and Rupal Mudak.
Police busted the IPL betting racket during an operation launched by a police team in the Shivaji Nagar area of Silchar town based on secret information and arrested the duo for running IPL gambling in the Barak Valley region.

An investigation is underway to nab other persons involved in the racket, said Superintendent of Police of Cachar district Numal Mahatta.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway in this matter.
