In yet another incident of human-elephant conflict in Assam, two persons were trampled to death by wild elephants in Goalpara district of Assam, earlier today.
The incident took place at Kuchdhowa, Deulguri in Goalpara when two farmers were crushed to death by two elephants that had strayed away from their herd.
The deceased have been identified as Yamini Mohan Khaklary (52) and Mohini Mohan Basumatary (28).
They were attacked by two marauding jumbos while they had gone to a paddy field early morning today.
Reportedly a large herd of elephants is still roaming near the village and has already attacked a few houses in the past few days.
