The Guwahati Municipal Corporation is all set to go to polls on April 22. With elections taking place after a gap of nine years, the issues of the common people of Guwahati are coming to the fore. Among the many issues plaguing the citizens of Guwahati, the issue of mosquitoes is rather big.

 With pollution, piling up of garbage and clogged drains, mosquitoes continue to remain a big cause of nuisance for the commoners with fears of diseases looming large. Our colleague Sushmita Dutta went to some of the wards of Guwahati and got to know about the problems faced by the people.

Apart from mosquitoes, other problems are also plaguing the people of Guwahati. Issues like bad roads, absence of street lights and fresh drinking water are some that concern the people the most.

Northeast Live caught up with ward number 21’s BJP candidate Sandip Deb who also indicated that the mosquito problem is plaguing his ward.

The BJP candidate also exuded confidence that he would win. Commenting on the Aam Aadmi Party contesting in some seats in the GMC polls, he said that they are not a factor in the elections.
