Assam: Girl from Baksa allegedly gang-raped in Guwahati’s Basistha

A girl was allegedly gang-raped and left by the roadside in Guwahati’s Basistha area on the night of Saraswati puja yesterday.

The incident has been reported from Indira nagar area of Basistha.

There are allegations that the girl was gang-raped by a group of 9-10 youths.

Locals said that the victim girl was abducted by a group of youth from Hatibandha in Goreshwar town of Baksa district while she was riding a bicycle.

She was then gang-raped in Guwahati and left by the roadside in Basistha.

Locals got to know about her ordeal this morning and immediately informed police about the incident.

Later police with the help of the locals rescued the girl. An investigation into the matter is underway.
