Notably, Assam Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan will be visiting Dima Hasao today along with Bimal Bora, as per the directions of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
While there have been inconveniences in road communication, the administration, particularly the PWD has managed to reopen the Maibong tunnel.
Meanwhile, the state is witnessing massive destruction in other parts. The ravaging impact of the floods has washed away bridges and embankments.
In Cachar, keeping the gravity of the situation in mind, the district authorities have issued some restrictions for the people. The district authorities have directed all educational institutes to remain closed.
Nobody is to move out of their house without any important reason. Cachar DC Keerti Jalli has said that all major educational and commercial establishments would remain shut and people whose houses have not yet fallen prey to floods should remain indoors and not venture out without any strong reason.
The Cachar DC said that the order would remain in force in the district till the situation improves.
Likewise, in Assam’s Sipajhar, floods continue to wreak havoc for the third day. Areas such as Patharighat and Sipajhar town have been severely affected, with prime roads being damaged in the floodwaters. Communication too has been severely disrupted.
