The deceased children have been identified as Gaurav Sharma and Kaushik Sharma.
To what extent can jealousy drive someone? How far can it push a person to commit the unthinkable? In a heart-wrenching incident that has left Assam’s Udalguri district in shock, the elder stepbrother killed his two minor brothers by slitting their throats.
The tragic incident occurred at Tangla in Udalguri on Saturday. The deceased children have been identified as Gaurav Sharma and Kaushik Sharma.
Niraj Sharma, who had moved to Tangla two years ago from Punjab, carried out the murders in a calculated manner.
He lured the young boys under the pretence of a ride to school, only to take them to a forest where he mercilessly killed them, slitting their throats.
Shockingly, after committing the crime, Niraj pretended to search for his missing stepbrothers, further deceiving the family.
Niraj had even attended Gaurav’s birthday celebration just three days before killing him, making the tragic event even more incomprehensible to the grieving family.
The minors were found with their throats slit near their home on Saturday morning.
The motive behind the gruesome crime is believed to be jealousy. Police have arrested Niraj in connection with the case and further investigation is underway to uncover more details about the tragic incident.
The victims’ father has raised serious concerns, claiming that Niraj could not have carried out the crime alone. He alleged that members of Niraj’s maternal uncle’s family are also involved in the murders and should be investigated.
The father’s suspicions suggest a possible conspiracy, as he believes the family feud over property may have been a reason behind the murders.
