External Affairs MoS Pabitra Margherita to Embark on 10-Day Visit to 5 Nations from Aug 15-24

He will visit Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, and Trinidad & Tobago.
In a bid to reaffirm India’s commitment to further strengthen ties with the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region and to explore and advance India’s partnership in newer areas of mutual interest, Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, will embark on a 10 day foreign visit from August 15 to 24, covering 5 countries–Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, and Trinidad & Tobago.
Notably, this will be his first foreign visit after taking over as Union Minister of State for External Affairs on June 9 this year.
Pabitra Margherita is scheduled to visit the Dominican Republic on August 15 and 16, Guatemala on August 17 to 19, El Salvador on August 19, Panama on August 20 to 22, and Trinidad and Tobago on August 23 and 24.
During this 10-day tour, Margherita will participate in significant events and engage in key diplomatic interactions. He will also interact with the Indian diaspora in each country.
In the Dominican Republic, he will attend the formal swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Luis Abinader.
In Guatemala, Margherita will meet Carlos Ramiro Martinez, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss and strengthen bilateral ties. He will also meet members of the Chamber of Industry of Guatemala and, the Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations (CACIF) and visit Antigua, the UNESCO Heritage City.
In, El Salvador, he will call on Nayib Bukele, President of the Republic of El Salvador, and have a bilateral meeting with
Alexandra Hill T, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of El Salvador.
In Panama, the MoS will have delegation-level talks with Javier Martinez, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Panama and meet Jose Raul Mulino, President of the Republic of Panama.
He will visit the University of Panama to pay floral tributes at the Bust of Mahatma Gandhi.
He will also visit Panama Canal and Panama Pacifico Free Trade/ Industrial Zone facilities and interact with the Diplomatic Community and prominent members of the Indian Diaspora.
In Trinidad and Tobago, he will have a meeting with Dr. Amery Browne, Minister for Foreign and CARICOM Affairs. He will meet Dr. Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
