Dead Man Walking? Person presumed to be dead, walks to crematorium, alive

In a case of mistaken identity in Assam’s Golaghat district, a youth who was presumed to be dead by his family members, walked in alive, hail and hearty, to the crematorium where his final rites were about to be performed, much to the shock and relief of all.

30-year old Dev Pujar was thought to be dead as a body wearing clothes similar to what he was wearing was found on the railway tracks after a person was hit by a train and was declared dead. The face of the person was smashed beyond recognition leading to the mix-up.

Dev’s family identified the body by the clothes the man was wearing when the mishap occurred.
After Dev walked in alive, the body of the unidentified person has been handed over to the police.
The incident was reported from Milanpur in Eastern Assam’s Golaghat district.
