Assam DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta on Friday said that the funds which are generated from the illegal cattle trade are being used in anti-India activities. The Assam top cop also said that such funds are sent across the border to various fundamentalist groups. He further informed that security forces are on the alert to curb cattle smuggling.
It was only yesterday when Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said the illegal cattle trade in the state is running to the tune of thousands of crores. In what can be termed a big statement, Chief Minister Sarma informed that a chunk of this money goes to Jihadis as funds.
It needs to be mentioned that reports surfaced stating that two cattle smugglers who were killed in an ambush between their associates and the police, had links to the ISI.
The ambush had taken place at Gossaigaon in Assam’s Kokrajhar district. Reports revealed that thousands of crore generated out of the illegal cattle trade is used for the anti-India campaign by ISI and other fundamentalist groups.
