Crackdown on Cybercrime in Assam: At Least 27 Arrested for Duping People in Multi-Crore Investment Scam

Of the 27, 12 persons have been arrested from Hailakandi, 5 from Dalgaon in Darrang, 3 from Sonitpur, 2 each from Sivasagar, Dhubri and Jorhat and one from Hojai.

In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing statewide crackdown against online scamsters, Assam police have arrested 27 people from various parts of the state.
They all are accused of running scams where they took deposits from victims, promising to double their money within a specified time frame.
Of the 27, 12 persons have been arrested from Hailakandi, 5 from Dalgaon in Darrang, 3 from Sonitpur, 2 each from Sivasagar, Dhubri and Jorhat and one from Hojai.

- Riajul Islam (34),Shab Uddin Mazumder (39), Amzad Hussain Mazumder (44),Moin Uddin Laskar (52),Khairul Alom Mazumder (40),Nuruz Zaman Laskar (21),Nuruj Zaman Choudhury (36), Imrul Hussain Mazumder (31),Ankita Dhar (31), Tohida Aktar Barbhuiya (28),Murshida Begum Mazumder (21), Nazma Begum Laskar (40) from Hailakandi.
- Md. Amir Hamza, Md. Jahur Ali, Md. Rabikul Sadik, Md. Abdul Alom, Md. Alfaz Ali from Darrang.
- Chandana Devi, Kamal Karkee Chetry, Santi Limbu (27) from Sonitpur.
- Banamali Hazarika (33), Gautam Kalita (39) from Jorhat.
- Sri Abhijit gogoi (44), Smti. jitamoni Gogoi (39), Sivasagar.
- Rafiqul Islam, Sankar Kumar Biswas from Dhubri.
- Manichandra Singha (50) from Hojai.
