Burnt body of 19-year old girl found in an under-construction building

Police is suspecting that the girl, who was missing since July 15, was abducted, raped and later her body was burnt with acid

In a shocking incident, the body of a 19-year-old girl was recovered from an under-construction building at Dwarbond area of Cachar, Assam on Tuesday.

As per police sources, the girl was missing since July 15. A resident of Rangirkhari area of Silchar, she used to work in a shop. She had gone missing on her way back home from work. The family had lodged a missing person’s case.

It is being suspected that the girl was kidnapped, raped and then burnt her to death with acid. The body has been sent to Silchar Medical College Hospital for postmortem.

Speaking to the media, SP Cachar, Numal Mahatta, said that what has happened is unfortunate. Investigation is already underway and strong action will be taken against whoever is found involved in this incident.
