Brahmaputra riverside beautification: Minister Ashok Singhal inspects ongoing works

Assam Housing and Urban Affairs Minster Ashok Singhal today inspected the ongoing works taken up by the state government for beautification of the Brahmaputra riverside in Guwahati.
As part of the inspection, Singhal visited the old Police Commissioner building, DC Bungalow at Panbazar and took stock of the progress.
Briefing mediapersons, the Urban Affairs minister said, “The work is going on but not at the desired pace. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has clearly directed to complete the work before Durga Puja festivities next month. We are making the best efforts to complete the work before the stipulated time. The Botanical Garden at the old Central Jail campus in Fancy Bazar is almost ready.”
Besides, Ashok Singhal also spoke on upcoming projects in the city. The minister stated, “A park is also proposed to be set up in Chandmari where the office of the Irrigation and Water Resource department is located. The CM has also directed for beautification of areas around the Deepor Beel. The Smart City project is also underway. By 2024 lots of projects will come up.”
The Brahmaputra Riverfront Development is a project taken up by Guwahati Smart City Development Agency Limited (GSCDAL). The riverfront development project will stretch from new DC Bungalow to Kacharighat which will cover 1,200 metres.
