Batadrava Violence: Assam Police continue arrests

Another alleged miscreant, identified as Jehirul Islam, landed in the police dragnet on Wednesday night.

Assam Police is leaving no stone unturned to nab all the attackers who dared to set the Batadrava Police Station ablaze.

In a recent development, another alleged miscreant, identified as Jehirul Islam, landed in the police dragnet on Wednesday night.

Accused Jehirul was allegedly one of the main attackers in the Batadrava incident.

It may be mentioned here that Jehirul has been arrested by Nagaon Additional SP Nirupam Hazarika, on the basis of video footage.

Earlier on Tuesday, police arrested two more persons in connection with the case. The two arrested persons were identified as Mujibur Rahman and Ashraf Ali. Thus, with the latest arrest, at least 35 arrests have been made so far.

Earlier on Sunday, an irate mob burnt down the Batadrava police station in Assam’s Nagaon district over an alleged custodial death.

Police said that the arson incident could have “terror links”. Opposition parties, however, said the incident was a failure of the police force and the BJP-led state government.
