Barak's Hmar community accuses Assam Police of fake encounter
The Hmar community in Assam’s Barak Valley has made sensational allegation against Cachar police terming the recent killing of three youths from the community as a fake encounter.
Scores of protesters from the community took to the streets today in Lakhipur, demanding Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s intervention for a special probe into the killings.
The three youths from the community were killed after getting caught in crossfire during an encounter between Cachar police and suspected militants at the Bhuban Hill.
The three youths who were arrested by Cachar police along with arms and ammo had led the police to the sight of the gunfigt following their interrogation.
Protesting against the killing, the Hmar community in Barak Valley held a rally in Lakhipur today urging CM Sarma to order a thorough probe into the killing of the trio.
Angry locals sought answers from the police while demanding a thorough probe.
