AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal is once again hitting the headlines for his outspoken remarks. After his sensational remarks on Muslim marriage formula in December last year, Ajmal today said that Muslims of Assam are keeping the Assamese language alive.
If not wrong to term it as a bizzare comment, Ajmal said, “I can challenge that we muslims have kept the Assamese langauge alive in Assam. We have kept the legacy of Assamese language and have protected it as well. But, within a fraction of seconds, people of Assam call us Bangladeshi,” Ajmal said.
“How is this possible ? Are the people in Bangladesh learning Assamese language ?,” Ajmal asked.
Meanwhile, Assam Water resource minister Pijush Hazarika took strong exception to Ajmal’s statement and said, “Do they speak Assamese anywhere? I hear Badruddin Ajmal say ‘Khaitam’, ‘Jaitam’ and sometimes he speaks in Hindi like ‘Badmaash ki Aulaad’. But I never heard him speaking proper Assamese.”
Pijush Hazarika questioned,”Can Badruddin Ajmal speak in Assamese like the way I speak?”
“They speak in Sylheti language, but we dont want Sylhet language here. We the Assamese people have kept the Assamese language secured,” the Assam cabinet minister added.
