In a first, global aviation and aerospace giants Dassault Systemes, the technology arm of Paris-based Dassault Group, and Airbus have entered Assam, a move that would train 5000 youths and make them ready for the skilled job market.
Taking to social media, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said, “In a first, Assam has tied up with aerospace giants like Dassault and Airbus to collectively support over 5000 students with the skills needed to get jobs in the aviation industry.”
He further said, “Dassault, an international organization, will create software for a wide range of sectors, from civil aviation to military aviation, artificial intelligence to machine learning, robotics to electric vehicles. In India, aircraft like the Rafale used by the Air Force, the backroom operations and maintenance are managed by this industry, Dassault. Dassault will establish Centre of Excellence at Assam Engineering College.”
“We will use the engineering college as a hub to extend teaching to 50 colleges in Assam. This will prepare the youth for future industries, and it is a significant plan. Our state aligns with leading states in the country. Dassault has previously signed agreements with the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu governments to establish similar Centres of Excellence”, CM Sarma said.
Dassault Systemes will pump in Rs 200 crore and the State government will invest Rs 40 crore.
Earlier, on September 6, Airbus, the world’s leading aircraft manufacturer, had signed an MoU with IIT Guwahati to train the youth of Assam and make them ready for jobs in the ever-expanding global aviation market.
