Assam’s Tableau Will Not Be Part Of Republic Day Parade For 2nd Consecutive Year. Here is Why

The theme for Assam's tableau will be 'Swarnim Bharat: Virasat Aur Vikas' or Golden India: Heritage and Development.
For the second consecutive year, the Assam tableau will not be part in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi due to the rotation policy that ensures all states and Union Territories get a chance to participate over time.
As per inputs, the state will be exhibited at the Red Fort during a special exhibition event from January 26 to 31.
During the Republic Day exhibition, Assam’s tableau will feature two UNESCO World Heritage Sites—Charaideo Moidam and Kaziranga National Park at the Red Fort.
However, the theme for Assam’s tableau will be ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat Aur Vikas’ or Golden India: Heritage and Development.
The tableau prominently features the ‘Xorai,’ the traditional bell-metal artefact that holds profound cultural significance in Assam. Meticulously crafted in places like Hajo and Sarthebari, the ‘Xorai’ symbolises respect and honour.
A one-horned rhino, representing Assam’s wildlife and thriving in Kaziranga National Park, is displayed at the front. Kaziranga, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985, is home to over 2,500 rhinos and attracts numerous visitors annually.
At the rear of the tableau is the Charaideo Moidam, a unique burial site for Ahom royalty, recognized by UNESCO for its cultural significance.
Recently, the state cultural affairs minister, Bimal Borah, received a certificate of recognition for the Charaideo Moidams in Paris.
The tableau also features Sattriya dance, a classical dance form from Assam, along with elements of the vibrant Bihu festival, showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage.
The Charaideo Moidams—the mound-burial system of the Ahom dynasty—was inscribed as a world heritage site in July 2024. The state government is promoting Charaideo in upper Assam as a premier tourist destination.
