Assam: Locals block NH 37 in Karimganj, demand immediate transfer of Badarpur OC

Law and order situation turned chaotic in Karimganj’s railway town Badarpur after a scuffle broke out between police and the locals following the arrest of a local.
The situation turned chaotic when Badarpur Thana OC Chandan Goswami and his team got engaged in a verbal argument with a local in a market place leading to the forceful detention of the man.
The behaviour of OC Goswami and his team enraged the locals and they decided to block the national highway.
Locals alleged that OC Chandan Goswami often misbehaved with them, and harassed them. They demanded his immediate transfer.
It was only after the intervention of DSP Karimganj, Githartha Dev Sharma that the situation was brought under control.
DSP, Githartha Dev Sharma appealed to people to go back to their respective work and urged people not to go against the law.
He also assured them that the Badarpur OC Chandan Goswami will be replaced by today.
As per sources, Badarpur OC, Chandan Goswami has been temporarily relieved from his duty.
