Assamese film ‘Sundarpur Chaos’ poster released

Another Assamese film, Sundarpur Chaos, will hit the theatres soon. The movie, directed by young, National Award winning filmmaker Jhulan Krishna Mahanta, captures the tumultuous thoughts, aspirations and emotions of a young man in today’s Assam.

The film’s poster was released today at an event held at the recently inaugurated Aideo cinema hall in the Assam State Film (Finance Development) Corporation premises.

Assam State Film (Finance Development) Corporation’s Chairperson, Simanta Shekhar, eminent singer and artiste Manisha Hazarika, writer and poetess Manjula Hazarika and eminent filmmaker Utpal Dutta were present.

The story is inspired by incidents of land grabbing and encroachment of Satra land in several parts of Assam. The screenplay done by Jhulan narrates how it is not just about encroachments and land grab but has a larger implication related to the culture and heritage of the people of Assam.

The cast of the film includes NSD graduate Partha Pratim Hazarika playing the lead role of Kinkar, veteran actors Jolly Laskar and Rajeeb Goswami, Gargee Dutta, Silpi Dutta, Bonny Deuri and child artistes Dheer Kashyap and 6-and-half year Nidarshana Biswajit Kashayp.

The film has two songs – one written by Manjula Hazarika and another written by Gayatri Hazarika, a popular singer and one of the producers of the film.

The film is produced by Ramendra Chamuah along with Gayatri Hazarika under the banner RC Production.
