Assam: 24-year old e-rickshaw driver, sole bread-earner of family, beaten to death over old enmity

The incident happened at Alobari in Dibrugarh where a group of twelve boys attacked Kamal over an old case of enmity

In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old e-rickshaw driver was brutally beaten by a gang of 12 young boys yesterday in Dibrugarh. The young man identified as Kamal Sonar succumbed to his injuries today. The reason behind the incident is said to be old enmity between Kamal and the gang of local boys.

Kamal was the sole bread earner of his family.

Speaking to media, Kamal’s said, “Kamal drove an e-rickshaw to support his. Yesterday he had gone to a hotel when 12 boys entered the hotel and beat him up. After beating him up, they fled the scene. After that, Kamal’s wife picked him up from the hotel and took him home. Kamal ate something at his home and started vomiting blood just after he ate. He was admitted to Assam Medical College and Hospital, where he spent the night and succumbed to his injuries at around 4 am today. We have filed an FIR against the accused and investigation is underway.”
