Assam: Wild buffalo terror in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts, 5 injured in attack

A wild buffalo has unleashed a reign of terror in Assam’s Chirang and Kokrajhar districts. In two separate incidents, at least 5 persons have been grievously injured after they were attacked by the wild buffalo.

Inputs suggest that in the first incident this morning the wild buffalo attacked a person at the Islakata village in Chirang district. The victim was identified as 40-year old Seven Basumatary.

Soon villagers gathered and tried to chase away the buffalo. Following this, the wild buffalo crossed the Champa river and entered Kokrajhar district. The Champa river divides both the districts.

The wild buffalo went on an attacking spree leaving at least 4 people injured in the Haldibari village in Kokrajhar.

As per inputs one of the injured, Mehung Basumatary’s injuries are life threatening and is stated to be in a very critical condition.

The wild buffalo is still roaming in the Haldibari forest village near the forest area. Forest department officials are already on the job to handle the situation.
