Assam University’s 3 day long convocation begins: 3500 degrees conferred

The 19th Convocation of Assam University Silchar saw the distribution of 3500 degrees.

The 19th Convocation of Assam University in Silchar which will be a three-day-long event got underway yesterday.

On the 1st day of the programme, as many as 3500 degrees were conferred by the Central University. In addition to that, the University also conferred D.Litt. and D.Sc. titles to two eminent personalities Swami Atmapriyananda and Dr. Lakhan Das.

Talking exclusively to Northeast Live after the 1st day programme, Dr. Lakhan Das who was conferred D.Sc. by Assam University, when asked to share his feelings for getting a recognition of his philanthropic activities, he said that he considers his work as his responsibility.

At the same time Swami Atmapriyananda said that he was a humble servant of Swami Vivekananda who work for the society and Nation building.

Eminent water conservationist who is famed as the Waterman of India, Dr. Rajendra Singh was also a part of the 19th convocation of Assam University. Talking exclusively to Northeast Live, Dr. Singh, a prestigious Ramon Magsaysay award winner, outlined the difference between learning, getting education and acquiring knowledge. Dr. Rajendra Singh said that mere learning and getting certificates is not worthy unless implemented.
