Assam Trading Scam: Sumi Borah and Tarkik Borah Sent to 13 Days Judicial Custody till Sept 30

Sumi Borah is the main associate of Bishal Phukan, the mastermind behind the big trading scam that defrauded people of approximately Rs 2,000 crore.

In a significant development in the ongoing online trading fraud case, actor and influencer Sumi Borah, her husband Tarkik Bora, and her brother-in-law Amlan Bora have been remanded to 13 days judicial custody.

The trio was produced before the Dibrugarh Court after their 5-day police custody ended today. Following this they were sent to judicial custody until September 30.

Sumi Borah is the main associate of Bishal Phukan, the mastermind behind the big trading scam that defrauded people of approximately Rs 2,000 crore.

Sumi Borah and her husband Tarkik Borah who recently surrendered to police has been under intense questioning about their involvement with Bishal Phukan.

Sources have revealed to Northeast Live that Sumi Borah has disclosed several high-profile names during her questioning, including prominent lawyers and notable figures from the Assamese film industry, who are alleged to have invested in Phukan’s fraudulent scheme.

The massive multi-crore scam where investors were duped of their hard-earned money in the name of online trading investment, unfolded following the arrest of mastermind Bishal Phukan on September 2.

Bishal’s links with Sumi and her husband Tarkik Borah was substantiated and the police lodged a suo moto case and initiate further proceedings.

Sumi and Tarkik Borah were arrested on September 12 after they surrendered before Dibrugarh Police.

Amlan Borah was arrested from Bihar in connection with the case on September 11.
