Assam: Trader shot at by armed miscreants

In an incident that triggered panic in Nagaon district of Assam, three miscreants shot at a local trader injuring him seriously.

The victim identified as Hafizur Rahman, was shot from a close distance by the assailants, police sources said.

One of the accused identified as Inamul Hussain has been arrested. Two others, Haidul and Ikramul, are absconding.

Victim Hafizur is undergoing treatment at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

According to reports, the accused trio had borrowed Rs 3 lakh from Hafizur for allegedly procuring certificates from an institute. But soon Hafizur Rahman learnt that the institution dealt in issuing fake certificates, following which he asked them to return his money. Unable to pay back, the trio attacked Hafizur.

Further probe into the matter is underway.
