An act of discipline has gone too far after a teacher at Swami Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya in Assam’s Moran chopped off the hair of a student without his consent.
The act has now been termed extreme cruelty by many.
The parents of students have lodged a complaint against the headmistress of the school, identified as Arunima Das, for chopping off the hair of many students in classes VIII and X.
The students and their parents alleged that the teacher had called the students to her office and chopped off their hair, as the students’ hair was long according to school rules.
The headmistress, speaking to the media, stated, “There is a rule for students to keep their hair short. The parents have also agreed to follow the rules set by the school. Whereas the boy, after being asked to get a haircut, didn’t get one. Yesterday, the boy complained of other students having long hair, though he himself had long hair. So he trimmed his front hair.”
