An 11-member team of doctors, nurses, and staff from Dibrugarh who have been stranded on a sandbar in the middle of the Brahmaputra River at Charkhalia Chapori were rescued on Sunday evening by an SDRF team.
The team had been stranded at the sandbar since last night after they reportedly lost their way due to inclement weather.
All eleven members of the medical team have been safely brought back to Dibrugarh town.
Incessant rain and the rising water level of the Brahmaputra made their rescue extremely tough and challenging.
The team had gone to Charkholia Chapori on Saturday to conduct a health camp there. On its way back, the team lost its way due to bad weather and rising river water and had to take shelter on a riverine island.
