Assam has been ranked as 17th best state to do business in India. According to the latest report by Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Assam is a fast mover as it has gone 7 ranks up over the previous year when it was ranked 24 in the ease of doing business index for states.
Barring Assam, the northeastern states continue to remain at the bottom of the index. Tripura stands at 25th, Nagaland at 28th, Mizoram at 30th, Manipur at 32nd and Sikkim at 33rd. Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya share the 34th position.
