President Ram Nath Kovind who reached Assam today prayed at the revered Kamakhya Temple. He was being accompanied by his wife Savita Kovind. Also accompanying the President and his wife on his visit to the Kamakhya Temple were Governor Jagadish Mukhi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
President Kovind paid his obeisance at the revered temple. Later the President is scheduled to take part in an event at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra today where he will inaugurate the 400 Birth Anniversary celebrations of Lachit Barphukan
President Kovind would be kick starting the celebrations to mark the 400th bith anniversary celebrations of legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan. During the course of his three day visit, the President is also scheduled to visit the Kaziranga National Park and attend the convocation ceremony at the Tezpur University.
Earlier today upon reaching Guwahati President Kovind was received by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Governor Jagdish Mukhi.
