Assam Police Arrests 3 Bangladeshi Infiltrators, Deports Them Back to Country

Continuing its crackdown on illegal border crossings and maintaining a strict vigil at the border, the Assam Police foiled yet another infiltration attempt from Bangladesh to India through Assam last night.

During a search operation along the Indo-Bhutan border last night, police identified 3 Bangladeshi infiltrators trying to enter Indian territory illegally, subsequently arrested them and deported them back to their country, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The 3 Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Masum Khan, Iqbal Hussain and Mujanur Rehman.

Taking to X, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the Assam Police for the strict vigil and wrote, “Maintaining strict vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border, @assampolice identified 3 Bangladeshi infiltrators near the International border – Masum Khan – Iqbal Hussain – Mujanur Rehman They were promptly pushed back to Bangladesh. Good job Team!”

Earlier on August 24, police arrested two Bangladeshi infiltrators–Masum Khan and Sonia Akhtar at the Badarpur Railway Stations in Karimganj district and deported them back to their country.

On August 18, police detained an individual identified as Lipi Akhtar from Dhaka Division who crossed over the India-Bangladesh border and entered Sukchar in the South Salmara district illegally and deported her back to her country the same day.
