Assam mountaineer Deepshikha Hazarika laid to rest

Deepshikha's body was recovered by rescue workers on Saturday morning, after four days of relentless search operations.
The family of deceased Assam mountaineer Deepshikha Hazarika bid her a tearful adieu as they performed the last rites today.
Deepshikha died in an avalanche at Draupadi Ka Danda-II peak in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.
She was laid to rest at the Maligaon Cemetry after a funeral service that was held at the Fatasil Church.
Deepkshikha’s mortal remains was brought to her residence last night.
It may be mentioned here that Deepshikha’s body was recovered by rescue workers on Saturday morning, after four days of relentless search operations.
Hailing from Guwahati, Deepshikha Hazarika was among the 41 trainees of the Uttarkashi-based Nehru Institute of Mountaineering or NIM who were hit by an avalanche while trekking on the Draupadi Ka Danda-II peak in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on October 4.

As such, a pall of gloom descended over the family of Deepshikha ever since the confirmation of her death reached them.
According to NIM, 41 people, including 34 trainees and 7 mountaineering instructors, were hit by the avalanche.
The NIM said that the Advanced Mountaineering Course commenced on September 14 at Uttarkashi and the course moved to the mountain on September 23.
They arrived at the Base Camp on September 5.
The avalanche occurred at a height of 17,000 feet at around 8. 45 am while the team was returning after summiting Draupadi Ka Danda II peak.
