Assam: Man Sentenced to 20 Years Imprisonment for Raping Minor Girl in Kokrajhar in 2023

The accused man has been identified as Niran Musahari (30), a resident of Kokrajhar.
In a significant ruling, the Special Court in Joydeb Koch in Assam’s Kokrajhar district has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000 for raping a minor girl.
The accused man has been identified as Niran Musahari (30), a resident of Kokrajhar.
The incident occurred on March 6, 2023, when the minor girl with her 3 friends went to a farmhouse to gather vegetables.
Musahari, who was working at the farmhouse, took the girl to a secluded area and raped her. Later, the girl informed her family about the ordeal.
After her parents filed a complaint with the police, a thorough investigation was conducted, leading to Musahari’s arrest.
The court found sufficient evidence to convict him on charges related to the assault under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
