Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has approved and sanctioned road projects totalling 193.1 kilometres for Karbi Anglong District under the Assam Disaster Resilient Hill Area Road Development Project (ADRHARDP). This move is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and infrastructure in the Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts.
Taking to social media platform X, Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to CM Sarma, acknowledging the Chief Minister’s vision for the development of hill areas.
Ronghang emphasized that the projects will greatly benefit both locals and visitors, with the Karbi Anglong district receiving 111.4 kilometres of road development and the West Karbi Anglong district seeing 81.7 kilometres of new roads.
The road projects in Karbi Anglong include significant routes such as the Ramanagar Japarajan Road (19 km), the road from Hidipi Bazar to Goutom Basti via Men Tisso (11 km), and the Borjuri to Dadhara route via Dolamara and Malasi (15 km), among others.
Meanwhile, West Karbi Anglong will benefit from projects like the Langthat Tiniali to Jengkha Bazar road via Rong Apam (21.7 km) and the Rongpangbong to Baida road via Upilangso (30.5 km).
Moreover, Ronghang assured that the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council would work closely with the state government to ensure the timely completion of these projects. He expressed confidence that these road developments would improve access to essential services, provide safer travel options, and boost economic growth in the region.
The initiative is seen as a crucial step in advancing the infrastructure of Assam’s hill areas, particularly in the economically vital Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts.
