Good news for the thousands of cricket lovers. The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Cricket World Cup trophy has arrived in Guwahati as part of its tour of India just a few days before the commencement of the ICC World Cup from October 5. The iconic trophy reached Guwahati late last night.
The trophy was put on display at the South Point School in Barsapara today where students, guardians and faculty members had the opportunity to get a glimpse and click photographs and selfies with the trophy.
The trophy has now been kept for display at the Barshapara Cricket Stadium before being flown to Chennai tomorrow morning.
The trophy has traversed 18 countries before reaching India. It was first unveiled in space and then at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Gujarat.
Unveiling the trophy, Joint Secretary BCCI Devajit Saikia said that as many as 4 warm-up matches leading up to the ICC World Cup 2023 will be held in Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium from September 29 to October 3.
World Cup warm-up fixtures in Guwahati:
• 29 September. Bangladesh Vs Sri Lanka
• 30 September: India Vs England
• 2 October: England Vs Bangladesh
• 3 October: Afghanistan Vs Sri Lanka
Devajit Saikia said that the practice sessions will be held in 2 venues- ACA Stadium and Amingaon Athletic Stadium.
Talking about the cost of the tickets, Saikia said that the price range for the tickets would be between Rs. 200 and 1000 per ticket. Tickets are already available on Bookmyshow.com.
