Assam: Horrific! Missing minor’s body found; rape and murder suspected

One person has been arrested in connection with the incident so far.
In a spine chilling incident, a 4-year old minor girl who went missing 3 days ago has been found dead. Looking at the conditions and allegations levelled by the locals, the minor was raped and murdered. The hands and feet of the victim were found tied.
A team of police and CRPF who had been on the lookout for the missing minor recovered the body from the Krishnakolit Tea Garden at Chapar in Dhubri district.
A local said, “We are very hurt because of this unfortunate incident. We condemn it in the strongest terms and seek capital punishment for the culprit. There must be a fast-track trial into the case. We suspected about the involvement of a youth in the heinous crime and informed the police. He has already been taken into custody.”
Further probe into the matter is underway.
The incident comes close on the heels of the death of a 17-year old minor in Eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh district. The girl was found hanging on September 3. It is suspected that she was gang raped following which she resorted to the harsh step.
Earlier on August 2, a 12-year-old girl in Dima Hasao, Assam, was sexually assaulted by a young man near a bamboo factory in Manderdisa.
A similar incident was reported on July 6, where a 14-year-old girl lost her life in Hailakandi after being abducted and allegedly sexually assaulted by three young men. This incident occurred in the Rojkandi Bagan area of Hailakandi.
