Assam eyes Guiness World Record: 10 lakh saplings to be planted in BTR within 24 hrs

The 10 lakh saplings will be planted within 24 hours in 113 hectares of land at Sikaridanga in Udalguri district
The Assam government is going to create another world record under the Amrit Briksha Andolan. 10 lakh saplings will be planted within 24 hours in 113 hectares of land at Sikaridanga, Bwirabkhanda in Udalguri district.
In doing so, Assam will attempt to break the record currently held by Turkey of planting 8 lakh, 88 thousand, 275 saplings in 24 hours.
Special preparations are being made by the Forest Department in this regard.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BTR Chief Pramod Bodo, a team from the Guinness Book of World Records will be present to witness the world record attempt. It may be mentioned that the Assam Government has decided to plant 1 crore saplings across the State beginning September 14.
As per reports, around 15,000-20,000 people will participate in the plantation.
The Assam Government is planning to plant one crore commercially viable tree saplings in a single day as part of the Amrit Briksha Andolan and create a world record.
The objective of the campaign is to promote a tree-based economy in Assam and enable people to derive economic benefits by growing commercial trees.
On September 9, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and said, “The countdown has begun. 8 days to go for Amrit Brikshya!
A sight to behold as saplings have arrived. 22-km-long saplings in a spiral shape will enter the Guinness Records.
Join us on September 17, when we plant over 1 cr sapling in just 3 hours.”
As part of the mega plantation drive, Assam Environment and Forest minister Chandramohan Patowary launched a 22-km line (in spiral) made with 3.5 lakh saplings as the first event for creating a Guinness World Record of tree plantation.
