A top Excise Official of the Assam Government has been arrested on corruption charges by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell.
The accused official has been identified as the Secretary of the Excise Department, ACS Indreswar Kalita.
The official has been arrested under charges of disproportionate assets case after a thorough probe.
Following a thorough probe, vigilance officials raided his flat at Nirvana Apartment in Sundarpur.
Investigators located multiple properties linked to him, including prime land holdings in Beltola and Bhetapara. The arrest was based on complaint number 2/24 registered with the CM’s Vigilance Cell.
After his arrest, Kalita underwent a medical examination before being lodged at Panbazar police station.
Further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of his assets and financial dealings. Authorities have vowed strict action in their ongoing crackdown on corruption within the state administration.
