Assam Police SI Junmoni Rabha who arrested fiancé in fraud case, dies in road accident

Junmoni Rabha, the Assam cop who hit the headlines last year for arresting her fiancé on charges of fraud and was later herself arrested for her involvement in cases of fraud, died in a road accident on Monday past midnight.
Junmoni, a police Sub-Inspector who was posted as OC at Morakolong police station in Nagaon district was headed towards Nagaon when she lost control of the car she was driving and had a head-on collision with a truck.
She is said to have died on the spot, her car mangled beyond recognition. The accident took place at Jakhlabandha in Kaliabar about 50 kms from Nagaon district headquarters.
Local police reached the spot and rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Junmoni Rabha was allegedly involved in cases of corruption, criminal conspiracy, and cheating, for which she was arrested but later granted bail by a Sessions Court.
She was also known as ‘Lady Singham’ and ‘Dabang Cop’.
