In a bid to give impetus to development, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today called on Director General of Border Roads Organisation, Lt. General Rajeev Chaudhary, at Assam House in New Delhi to discuss issues concerning border roads with the State and the Northeast
Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Lt. General Rajeev Chaudhary said that during the meeting with the Chief Minister, several issues pertaining to connectivity in the border areas were discussed. He said that the discussions were also held on how BRO could work as a stakeholder in the development of the state.

On the border village devolvement, Lt. General Rajeev Chaudhary said that the Border Roads Organisation has undertaken various projects to develop connectivity in the Northeastern Region. He added that the organisation is planning to develop connectivity in remote and far-flung villages in Eastern Assam with the mainstream.
Notably the government in its Union Budget for the financial year 2022-23 has increased the capital outlay for the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), by a record 40 percent, to Rs 3,500 crore as compared to Rs 2,500 crore in 2021.
