With just two days left for the crucial Rajya Sabha Polls, Assam Chief Minister and BJP’s top strategist Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has reiterated that the BJP-led alliance will seal victory in both the Rajya Sabha seats.

However, he affirmed that the BJP-led alliance will not need the votes of AIUDF MLAs or Congress MLA Sherman Ali to win in the polls.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sarma also stated that he has been in touch with several Congress leaders, and this also includes Congress leader and candidate Ripun Bora.

In this regard, Chief Minister Sarma informed that he urged Bora not to fight the Rajya Sabha polls this time around.

The terms of Ranee Narah and Ripun Borah, both from the Congress, will expire on April 2, leaving two seats vacant.

Ripun Borah has been re-nominated by Congress.

While BJP filed Pabitra Margherita as its candidate for one seat.

The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), a BJP ally, has fielded Rwngwra Narzary, the party’s president, for the second seat.

a total of 13 seats will go to polls on March 13 – Assam (2), Nagaland (1), Tripura (1)Himachal (1), Kerala (3), and Punjab (5). BJP currently has 97 in the 245-seat RS.
