Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took part in festivities at Latasil Bihu Sanmilani on the day of ‘Goru Bihu’. The Chief Minister inaugurated the Bihu festivities by hoisting the Bihu flag. He also extended Bihu greetings to the people of Assam.
“On the occasion of Assamese New Year and Rangali Bihu, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all the people of the state as well as to the Assamese people at home and abroad,” CM Sarma said.
He further said, “I am very happy to be present at the 71st Rangali Bihu celebration of the Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani and to participate in the Bihu flag hoisting ceremony.”
Sarma further asserted that the traditions of Rongali Bihu must be carried out in future too.
The Latasil Bihu Sanmilani played a pioneering role in bringing the Bihu celebrations of the fields to the stage.
Meanwhile, the All Assam Students Union (AASU) organized a ‘Mukoli Bihu’ in City’s Judges’ field on the occasion of Bihu.
The union felicitated 14 eminent personalities of Assam- Nilomoni Phukan, Late Shakuntala Choudhury, Dharmeswar Engti, Anuradha Sharma Pujari, Diganta Biswa Sarma, and Lovlina Borgohain among others.
The flag hoisting ceremony was done by music director Dashrath Das and AASU President Dipanka Kumar Nath.
