More than a hundred protestors were arrested today who had gathered for a demonstration outside the DGP office in Guwahati.

The protestors had gathered to demand for the results of the constable recruitment exams for Assam Police which were held on March 17.

Police prevented the protest from taking place and placed the protestors into custody in Panbazar police station.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered an inquiry into the matter. CM Sarma said that it is too soon for people to protest and demand results for a recruitment exam that took place hardly a month ago.

Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta stated that the Assam Police is not interested in recruiting people who protest. He further added that the protestors were engaged in unlawful activities.
