Assam Cabinet: 84 kin of deceased paper mill workers to be employed

In what has come as good news for the employees of the defunct paper mills in Assam, the government has decided to appoint 84 eligible kin of deceased workers out of the total 100 in various departments of the state.

Besides, the cabinet also took several other key decisions in its latest meeting. Another decision which was taken relates to caste certificates which would be provided to 9th standard students from next year onwards.
The students will be able to access the certificates digitally in just 45 days. This decision was taken as part of the government’s Mission Bhumiputra which will come into effect from May 12.
The cabinet has also taken strict decisions to stop urea syndicate for which an SOP has also been formulated.
In the latest directive, the government has decided to cancel the licenses of whole sellers, and replace them with a retailers’ licenses directly to farmers.
The cabinet has also decided to bring up a Superspeciality hospital in collaboration with IIT Guwahati. The cabinet has also sanctioned Rs 585 crore for the project.
And among other decisions, the cabinet has also sanctioned Rs 554.54 crore for the construction of residential buildings for Assam Police personnel.
